Clarinets Direct is Europe's leading specialist clarinet dealer. We are fortunate indeed to be able to offer
these rare and fine Yamaha Schmidt Reform Boehm system clarinets.
This pair are a commission sale, having come to us from a Swedish professional player,
who is now concentrating on period instrument performance.
These clarinets feature: A booster mechanism for throat Bb. An additional vent for RH middle finger B/F#, like
the Acton Vent found on the B&H 1010. A compensating low G/D pad. A hole in the bell to improve low E/B.
All of this results in a clarinet of improved evenness and
intonation. These instruments are essentially copies of
late Fritz Wurlitzer Schmidt Reform Boehm clarinets, and feature a small bore of 14.65mm, Bb, and 14.80mm, A,
something which his son Herbert continued with in his own designs. Consequently the clarinet can be
played very successfully with modern Vandoren French bore m'pieces.
The Bb has serial no. 01129 and has Silver plate in very good condition throughout.
The wood is excellent condition, without mark or blemish.
The pads are a mixture of white leather, with cork on most of the upper joint, though used they are
in excellent order throughout. The instrument is stamped "856".
The A has serial no. 01028 and has Silver plate in very good condition throughout.
The wood is again in excellent condition.
The cork and white leather pads will be good for many years to come.
The instrument is stamped " Custom". There are 2 barrels for the Bb, of 56mm and 57mm, and
one for the A of 57mm.
There are 2 mouthpieces: 1. A Howarth with a taper from 14.4mm out to an exit bore of 14.7mm.
2. Leblanc L4. The Howarth is old and will probably require re-laying to suit the new owner,
however it is provided beacause it tunes the pair well.
The original case is in excellent used condition, and comes with a leather cover.
