This is a mint condition Yamaha YCL221 Bass Clarinet in Resonite to low Eb, which is a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. This instrument was bought new by a UK based professional for a West Side Story Tour. He is primarily a Flute and Sax player, and as his part was a doubling one, this instrument has had hardly any use. He has decided to sell the Bass, in order to part fund the purchase of a new clarinet. The Yamaha Bass has one major advantage over its rivals: The 2 main joints come apart, and consequently the case is about the same size as an Alto Sax case.
There are no cracks or damage to the body, which is in excellent shape throughout. There is no plating loss to the Nickel Silver key work, which is pristine. The Bass has tan leather pads throughout with reflectors on the lower joint, all of which are "as new". The crook and the bell are both in pristine condition with no dents. There is a floor peg attachment to the bell, and also a sling hook. The serial nos. are 002693. The case is in excellent condition & the Yamaha 4C m'piece plays very well with Vandoren 2.5 reeds, two are supplied. This instrument plays easily, and is an ideal first Bass clarinet purchase.
