SONORA, BY ADLER, SAX FINGERED Bb CLARINET

A unique and rare "Sonora", by Adler, plateau Saxophone fingered  Bb clarinet. This instrument has a custom Edward Pillinger barrel [ NB 2 are pictured but only one will be sold with the instrument] and also a German lay, Pillinger m'piece. There are no cracks or damage to the wood. The maillechort keywork is in excellent  condition, with  all pads in good condition: These are predominantly white leather, though there are a couple of Tan leather pads. The serial no. is 8698 and the instrument must have been made after WW11 as it is also stamped "GDR". Adler is well known for the quality of their manufacture: This instrument lives up to the stamp, it has an exceptionally rich and sonorous sound, and a very even scale. The thumb rest has been inverted and a strap attached for a sling. In the past such instruments with a metal crook and bell were given the name " Saxonette".
