SELMER PARIS PROFESSIONAL BASS CLARINET, £5245

This is a superb condition Selmer Bass Clarinet in Grenadilla wood, to low C, which is a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. The Selmer Paris Bass is considered the finest in the World due to its excellent ergonomics, fine tuning, and automatic double overblowing vent for the second register. This instrument is part of a large collection of exceptionally fine instruments which will be shortly offered to the market. The instruments were formerly in the collection of Paul Willey's late father. Paul is a well known violinist, formerly the leader of the Ulster Orchestra, and perhaps best known to British TV audiences as the leader of the orchestra for "Strictly Come Dancing".
All Silver plated key work is in good condition. There are no cracks or damage to the wood which is pristine throughout. The bell and crook are both in perfect condition, with no dents, dings, scratches or other marks. The crook is sleeved and adjustable for tuning. This Bass has tan leather pads throughout, which whilst used, are in excellent condition. The instrument has been down to our workshop for an overhaul, and regulation, it will play perfectly out of the case and for many years to come. There is no joint wobble and there is a floor peg to the bell. The serial nos. are E5207 which makes this a Selmer Mark II Bass dating to 1988/9. The Selmer case is un upgrade to a more modern back pack example in good used condition. For those familiar with Selmer Bass products, the Mark II Bass case was particularly poor, as the interior was of weak construction, and this often caused the key work to become bent in transit. This Bass case is therefore a necessary upgrade. In addition the Bass comes with 2 Selmer m'pieces, a C85 and C* both in excellent used condition, and also a Bass stand [not pictured].
