This is a fine condition Selmer Bass Clarinet in Grenadilla wood, to low Eb, which is a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. The Selmer Paris Bass is considered the finest in the World due to its excellent ergonomics, and automatic double overblowing vent for the second register. This instrument has been professionally owned and played here in the UK, with the current owner having used it for the last 5 years, he has just bought a low C Bass.
All German Silver key work is in good condition. There is an old stable crack to the upper joint, which has been pinned, see photo 9: As mentioned above, this has proved completely trouble free, with regular professional use, for the last 5 years. The bell and crook are both show a patina consistent with the age of the Bass, there is also one minor dent to the bell, see photo 7. The crook is sleeved and adjustable. This Bass has tan leather pads throughout, which whilst used, are sealing well. There is no joint wobble and the regulation is good. There is a floor peg to the bell, the matching serial nos. are N7200 which dates to 1950. The original case is in good used condition. The m'piece is an "as new" Morgan Protone.
