This is a good condition Selmer Paris Bass Clarinet in Grenadilla wood, to low Eb, which is a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. The last former owner is a UK based amateur Bass clarinettist. The Selmer Paris Bass is considered the finest in the World due to its excellent ergonomics, and automatic double overblowing vent for the second register. All German Silver key work is in good condition, with only minor wear, the plating shows some "brassing" commensurate with the age of this instrument. There is one repaired, pinned, crack to the upper joint, see photo 4. This crack repair is very old, and the instrument has been stable for several decades. In addition the wood shows minor surface scratches and marks. The bell and crook also have minor dings and light marks, see photos 5 and 9, these have no effect on the tuning or response. The crook is a sleeved and adjustable. This Bass has just had a thorough "check down" in our workshop and regulation is excellent. The pads are used, but still serviceable, again, any that needed changing were replaced in our workshop. This Bass will play perfectly out of the case. There is a floor peg to the bell, The matching serial nos. are N7200 which dates to 1950. The original case is much used, and has tape repairs to the exterior, but it is still serviceable, and comes with the keys. The m'piece is an "as new" Morgan Protone.
