MATCHED PAIR OF CUSTOM ORDER LUIS ROSSI CLARINETS, £6795

This matched pair of Luis Rossi English bore clarinets are a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. It was this pair that Colin Parr used for the last period of his tenure as Principal Clarinet of the CBSO. These instruments can be heard on many of the finest Sir Simon Rattle CBSO EMI recordings which are justly renowned; particularly the Mahler symphonies. Colin ordered this unique Rosewood pair in 1998, and they were delivered in 2000.
The Bb has serial no. E356 and has Silver plate in pristine condition. The wood is also in excellent condition. All pads are Pisoni White Leather in good condition. An invoice for the last service on the Bb is included in the sale and it shows the instrument had a thorough check down on 21st May 2014.
The A, serial no. E358, has wood in overall excellent condition, though there is one tiny surface crack to the back of the instrument, see photo 10, this never went through to the bore, and has been completely stable in 14 years of continuous use. The Silver plate throughout is in excellent shape. This instrument was last serviced on 30th April 2014 when, amongst other work, 6 pads were replaced. Again the invoice for this is included in the sale. There are 5 barrels of 66.0mm, 67.0mm, 68.0mm, 69.0mm and 70.0mm. The are also no less than 4 m'pieces, all of which are 1010 bore: A Morgan RM06, & a custom Pillinger CP 108, a copy of a pre-war 1010 model, a Rick Sayre, and an original Luis Rossi. The case and dust cover are used, but in good condition.
