LUIS ROSSI ENGLISH BORE MODEL Bb CLARINET, £2795

This is an excellent Luis Rossi English model clarinet which is a commission sale for Clarinets Direct: With a 15.2mm bore these clarinets are based on a late pair of pre-war 1010 clarinets and are ideal for those players seeking to emulate the playing style of classic older British players, i.e. Jack Brymer, Gervase dePeyer. However they represent a considerable step forward in tuning over the original 1010. Luis Rossi long ago moved away from the traditional B&H concept that the 1010 bore should be basically a cylinder at 15.2mm, including the bore of the mouthpiece. Luis therefore uses a new modern acoustic design which includes a large reverse cone at the top of the upper joint, and a clever register key, with fully automatic Bb booster, to ensure that his wide bore design has world leading intonation and evenness.
This instrument is in very good condition, with white leather pads throughout. The wood is in superb condition, but there is one old filled small surface crack, which runs from the top tenon down to the first pillar on the upper joint, which is for the register key, see photo 5. The silver plating is in excellent condition throughout with no wear. There are two supplied barrels of 65.5mm and 69.5mm. Like all Rossi clarinets the instrument is in a single piece which allows the C#/G# hole to be correctly placed. The original wooden tenon guards are also included, and the single piece modern case with carry strap is in very good condition.
