This is an excellent Luis Rossi American model clarinet which is a commission sale for Clarinets Direct: With a 14.7mm polycylindrical bore this clarinet is based on the Buffet R13, though acoustically it is vastly superior. This model is Luis Rossi's best selling clarinet worldwide. It adds a new dimension of tonal warmth and improved intonation to the Buffet instrument from which it is derived. The instrument features a compensating G/D vent which has many benefits, including raising the pitch of the 3rd register; a major shortcoming of the R13 design. In common with all Rossi clarinets the instrument is in a single piece which allows the correct positioning of the C#/G# hole.
This instrument is in superb condition, with good pads throughout, the lowest pads feature metal reflectors. The wood is in pristine condition, with no cracks or damage. The silver plating is in excellent condition throughout with no wear. There are four supplied barrels of 58.5mm, 59.5mm, 60.5mm and 61.5mm. [ NB Only 3 barrels are pictured.] The instrument was tuned by Luis to play with Vandoren mouthpieces. There are also two different bells, a thicker walled example which allows for a darker tone with more weight, and also a traditional thinner walled example for more projection and brilliance. The original wooden tenon guards are included, and the double case with carry strap is also in very good condition.
