An extremely fine pair of Buffet RC clarinets in Silver plate, which are a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. These one owner instruments were used by a music student who, since completing his degree at York University, has found little time to play the clarinet.
There is no damage to the wood, which is crack and repair free. All pieces are matching and original and stamped "Buffet". The plating overall is excellent with no discernible wear. The Bb S/N 485425 was bought new in 2003, the A S/N 518292 was bought new 3 years later, but as it has had less use than the Bb, as is common with pairs. The Buffet RC model was launched in 1975, and named after Robert Carree, who had had a long career with Buffet Crampon, which culminated in him being chief designer. The RC places the speaker tube higher, and features a slighter wider initial polycylindrical bore than the R13. Most players find this results in a warmer, more "spread" tone, than the R13. Both instruments have been down to our workshop for a thorough "check down" and re-pad as necessary. All pads are double bladder fish skin in good condition. The supplied mouthpieces are an upgrade to a professional model Vandoren 5RV, and an unused stock Buffet,as was originally supplied with the instruments. The case which is of modern rucksack type is an excellent design by "Soundwear", in extremely fine condition. The interior is well made and padded, and there as several handy exterior pouches for accessories and music. If desired the pair can be split as follows: RC A in double case with Buffet m'piece for 1295. RC Bb in new single case with 5RV m'piece for 1245.
