A very good condition Buffet RC Bb clarinet in Silver plate, which is a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. The current owner has used this instrument as part of a pair to see him through a clarinet performance degree at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. The Buffet RC model was launched in 1975, and named after Robert Carree, who had had a long career with Buffet Crampon, which culminated in him being chief designer. The RC places the speaker tube higher, and features a slighter wider initial polycylindrical bore than the R13. Most players find this results in a warmer, more "spread" tone, than the R13.
All pieces are matching and original and stamped "Buffet". The plating overall is excellent, with no discernable wear. There are 2 repaired, glued cracks to the upper joint: One runs down from the top tenon into the 1st trill key hole. The second crack runs down from the speaker key down through the LH pillar of the speaker key. This Bb has matching S/N 573679. Like a Prestige model, it has a LH Ab/Eb key, which is an additional cost extra from Buffet. The instrument has used Eddie Ashton superpads throughout, which were fitted new some 3 years ago, and should be good for many years to come. The supplied m'piece is a used Selmer C85 115. The case is a brand new modern example with shoulder carry strap.
