These very good condition R13s are a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. Their one former owner used them through his time as a Music scholar at Charterhouse School. They were selected for him by his teacher, Nicholas Carpenter, clarinettist for the Bournemouth Sinfonietta and LPO. The owner is now a professional Opera singer, and these excellent older R13s are offered again for sale. It is extremely rare to find instruments of this calibre which have had such little use, but fortunately for the pairs' next owner such is the case here. These instruments date from 1984, just prior to the introduction of the R13 Prestige range, and when manufactured they were the most expensive professional instruments in the Buffet range. Both instruments have just been partially overhauled by "Clarinets Direct".
The Bb Clarinet, with matching S/N 261622 is in very good condition. The Grenadilla wood which is unstained, is pristine throughout, no cracks, repairs or damage whatsoever, though the thumb rest has been moved lower, and the original screw holes left unfilled: It could therefore be moved back again if so desired. The Silver plating is very good, with only slight wear to the rear thumb bush and F/C rod barrel: It is 98%. As part of the overhaul several pads have been replaced as has the lower joint tenon cork of the upper joint.
The A clarinet is in excellent condition. The matching S/N's are 254515. The Grenadilla wood and Silver plated key work are both in excellent condition. The case is a Boosey and Hawkes in good condition. ` The m'piece is a used Portnoy BP3.
