An excellent Buffet R13 A clarinet. Those who have followed the Clarinets Direct website will know that we are rarely that impressed by current Buffet R13s. However the best way to overcome the current poor standard of quality control with the base model is to select from the largest possible number of examples. Fortunately that is the case here: This clarinet was selected direct from the Buffet factory, France, by a young professional player currently studying with Philippe Cuper [himself a Buffet Artist] at the Paris Conservatoire. It was chosen from numerous examples, and, of course, the advantage of going direct to Buffet is that you get first choice.
This instrument was chosen last year, and it is, as you would expect, in near mint condition: With only slight wear to the logo stamps and pads to distinguish it from new. The player had white leather pads fitted throughout, a significant and costly upgrade on the original fish skin pads, as fitted by Buffet. The supplied barrel is of 65mm length, and the Buffet pouchette leather case is in "as new" condition. The matching serial nos. are 613625. The reason for the sale is that the professional in question has decided to move on to Buffet RC Prestige clarinets.
