A very fine Buffet R13 A clarinet. This instrument has an interesting
provenance. It was bought new by Julian Farrell, and carefully selected from many examples.
Julian was for many years a member of the English Chamber Orchestra and Clarinet Professor at the Guildhall School of Music
This instrument has Silver plated key work is very good order throughout,
with no discernable wear.
The wood is in good condition, but there are two old parallel cracks to the upper joint,
running into the top and second highest trill key tone holes, see photo 5.
The cracks were pinned many years ago, and have been stable for several decades.
The instrument has tan leather pads, which are used, but still sealing well.
All pieces are matching and original with Buffet stamps.
The supplied barrel is a R13 A Buffet of 64.5mm.
The matching serial nos. are 204779 which dates to 1980,
at this stage, prior to the introduction of the Prestige range, this A
was manufactured as Buffet's top of the range model, second only to the RC A in cost.
The supplied double case is an Orly in used condition, there are some interior stains,
but it still zips up securely.
