An unusual Buffet R13, which is without serial numbers or makers stamp on the main pieces. The wood on this instrument is unstained which suggests a date of manufacture in the early 1980's, in all respects; keywork, tone hole position and interior bore this is an instrument of R13 type. The workmanship and build quality are too fine for it to be a copy, and indeed when it was serviced through our workshop the original pads and touch corks were all Buffet Crampon originals. It is, of course, possible that the instrument is made from two replacement joints, as Buffet do not stamp replacement joints with serial numbers.
The Silver plated key work is in pristine order throughout, with only a few scratches and slight wear natural to the age of the clarinet. The wood is in good condition with no cracks or damage, only slight surface marks. The instrument has just had a complete re-pad in Pisoni deluxe fish skin pads and it is sold with our full 1 year warranty. This clarinet demonstrates the classic qualities of an R13; a lovely sweet sound and excellent intonation, and is made with unstained, matched Grenadilla wood. The supplied mouthpiece is a stock Buffet in good condition. The case is of 1980's Buffet type with slight staining to the interior, otherwise it is in excellent condition.
