BUFFET R13 Bb CLARINET, £1195

An excellent condition vintage Buffet R13. The wood is in good condition with no cracks or damage, only slight surface marks. All pieces are matching and original. The instrument has recently been re-padded in Pisoni Premium Deluxe Fish Skin Pads, and all of these are in very good condition. In the past the top and bottom tenons of the upper joint have been capped in metal, presumably to correct wear & prevent joint wobble; the work has been excellently done. The matching serial nos. are 73551 which dates to 1962. This period is commonly referred to as the "Golden Era" of R13 manufacture. The German Silver key work is in good order with no discernable wear. Back then this was the finest professional instrument Buffet made, with unstained, matched wood. This was before the introduction of the ""Prestige" range, which effectively downgraded the standard R13 considerably. These days R13's are made from inferior quality wood which is stained to hide imperfections. This instrument will not disappoint; the quality of scale and intonation are everything one has come to expect from this period of careful hand manufacture. The case is the original, slightly worn, but fully functional, and the m'piece is an original Buffet C in ebonite.
