SELMER, PARIS, PRE-CENTERED TONE Bb CLARINET, £745

This is a Selmer Pre-CT clarinet, which has been professionally owned by a London based jazz player and is a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. The current owner faces a large inheritance tax bill, and is forced to sell off some of his extensive collection. This model was endorsed by Benny Goodman, and is the type of clarinet most closely associated with the American big band era.
The German Silver key work is in good condition throughout, and exhibits a nice shine. The instrument has recently had an overhaul in fish skin pads, and all are in excellent condition. There are no cracks or repairs to the wood, just minor surface scratches and marks. There is no joint wobble. The matching serial nos. are N1901, which dates to 1947. The case, a Boosey & Hawkes, is well used, but latches securely.
