A fine pair of Boosey & Hawkes Emperors which are a commission for Clarinets Direct.
These are a one owner pair, owned by an adult amateur from new.
The B&H Emperor was a top student model, which competed directly with the Buffet E13 in terms of quality.
There are no cracks or damage to the wood, which is in excellent condition throughout.
The pair has recently been fully overhauled in fish skin pads.
In addition we have just thoroughly checked over the pair in our Clarinets Direct workshop,
and adjusted regulation and touch corks as necessary.
The Bb, serial number 205539, has Nickel plate, the A serial 212220A, has Silver plate.
These serial nos. date the pair to approximately 1962.
The plating throughout on the A is pristine, with no wear.
The Bb plating shows some slight tarnish and cloudiness, but there is very little wear.
As is usual, the Bb has probably had much more use.
The stamp on the Bb is slightly different to that on the A,
though both are clearly "Emperor" clarinets.
There are 2 barrels for tuning purposes of 66mm & 67mm The supplied case, probably original, is worn but functional.
The mouthpiece is an original B&H 926, No. 2: This is a significant upgrade for this pair,
as normally the 926 would have been supplied with an Imperial pair,
the professional model above the Emperor in the B&H range.
This mouthpiece tunes and plays the pair extremely well.
