This matched pair of Eaton Elites are a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. It was this pair that Colin Parr
used for the last decade of his tenure as Principal Clarinet of the CBSO. These instruments can
be heard on many of the finest Sir Simon Rattle CBSO EMI recordings which
are justly renowned; particularly the Mahler symphonies.
The Bb has serial no. E140 and has Silver plate in very good condition. The wood is in overall good condition,
though Colin tells me that there is a repaired,
pinned crack, just above the throat "A" hole running up into the makers stamp, [ see photo 5].
The crack occured very early on after the initial purchase and after that the repair was stable, with constant heavy use, for over 10 years.
The crack does not go through into the bore. All pads are Pisoni Tan Leather in good condition
Both instruments have been down to our workshop for a thorough "check down"
with any regulation and touch cork work done as necessary.
The A, serial no. E175, has no cracks or repairs. The Silver plate throughout is in excellent shape,
as are all Pisoni Tan Leather pads and corks. There are 3 barrels of 63.0mm, [with a tight hairline crack]
and two of 64.5mm with no damage. The m'pieces are both in MINT condition: A Morgan RM06, re-bored to the correct dimensions
& a custom Pillinger S/N 1652, a copy of a pre-war 1010 model. The case and dust cover are used, but in good condition.
