This is a Pete Fountain, Leblanc, Jazz clarinet, model 1606S. This clarinet, along with the models 1611 and 1610 which feature articulated C#/G# and 7 rings, is popularly known as the "Big Easy". Pete is probably the best-known clarinettist in popular music. As the king of Dixieland he has lent his name for over 30 years to this Leblanc France model, with a 15.00mm cylindrical bore, that puts Pete's distinctive "fat" sound within the reach of other players! Sadly Leblanc no longer manufacture: This clarinet is rare and highly sought after.
This instrument is in excellent used condition. There is no wear to the Silver plate, which is in pristine condition throughout. It has recently had an overhaul with fish skin pads. There are no cracks or damage to the wood, which is in superb condition. The matching serial numbers are 26869. Leblanc serial number lists are unreliable, however some websites would date this clarinet to 1967. The original Leblanc case is also in good used condition, as is the Jody Jazz Ruby Red 6 m'piece.
