ORSI, MESSINA, PLATEAU Bb CLARINET, £1095

An extremely rare Prof. Romeo Orsi plateau mechanism Bb clarinet. Orsi are one of the most respected and oldest of the Italian manufacturers of clarinets. Originally founded in 1880 in Milan, the firm was then subsequently run by two further generations of Orsi's; Lorenzo and Roberto. Both Patricola, who now manufactures clarinets in Milan, and Bulgheroni trained with the firm.
This is a Professional model Grenadilla wood clarinet, but features plateau keys specifically designed for the younger player, doubler, or even arthritic player who may have difficulty with the usual open hole clarinet. The instrument is in mint condition, and is supplied with the original manufacturers Guarantee. The pads for the main touchpieces are cork, with the others in fish skin, all of which are in "as new" condition. This means that the clarinet should be maintenance free for several years to come. The Nickel Silver key work and plating are pristine. The instrument has been down to our workshop for a thorough "check down". The m'piece is an upgrade to a Leblanc L2 in ebonite. The case is "as new". The matching serial nos. are 8309.
