NORMANDY, by LEBLANC, PLATEAU Bb CLARINET, 695

The Normandy Bb clarinet was a range of student clarinets made by Leblanc. This clarinet was based on the Noblet professional model, it has a bore of 14.85mm and a cylindrical taper in the upper joint. This is an extremely rare plateau clarinet, i.e. all touchpieces are covered hole. The Nickel Silver key work shows some wear, mainly to the "ring" finger touchpieces. We have just entirely re-padded in finest Pisoni Premium Deluxe Tan Leather pads, with the exception of the C#/G# and register key which are in cork. The clarinet is sold with our full year's Clarinets Direct warranty. The matching serial nos. are 34863. There are no cracks or damage to the body; apart frome some minor chips to the outer edges of the upper joint tenons, which have no effect on the response. The instrument is made of resonite, and the bell is a replacement stamped "Buffet Evette", again in resonite. The lighter body of the resonite, compensates for the increased weight of the plateau key work. This clarinet would suit a doubler on sax or flute, or even the arthritic player who may have difficulty covering the standard open tone-hole ring keys. The case is of aluminium in good condition, and the m'piece is a used Noblet. This instrument responds extremely well for a plateau; with none of the usual "stuffiness" in the RH lower register.
