This is a good condition Noblet, by Leblanc, Paris, Bass Clarinet in Grenadilla wood, to low Eb. This is an early model 60, the entry level professional Bass made by Leblanc, which was last owned by an amateur, and is a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. The Nickel Silver key work shows some wear, mainly to the ring finger touchpieces, but, for an instrument dating to the early 1960s, the plating is in good condition. The wood does show scuffs and surface marks, mostly where old screw holes have been filled for the matching band lyre, and the original rear mounted floor peg. In addition there are 2 very small tight surface cracks to the upper tenon of the lower joint. Both cracks do not enter, or form, the bore, and consequently are cosmetic issues only. For the largest of these see photo 7. The bell and crook are both in good condition with only very minor dings, and "spotting" to the plating of the bell. The Bass has just been fully overhauled in finest Pisoni Premium Deluxe Tan Leather pads, and is sold with our full 1 year warranty. There is a floor peg attachment to the bell with spike & also a sling hook. The matching serial nos. are 4160, dating to the 1960s, at this period Noblet fitted articulated trill keys to the three highest pitches, in the manner of Selmer, later on, this superior design was simplified in order to save money with production costs. The case is in very good used condition. The m'piece is an American Music ebonite model in good condition. Also supplied are several reeds. In summation this is a very fine responding Bass, but the cosmetic condition reflects its age and use. It would suit a professional player, or doubler, on a budget.
