This is a good condition Noblet, Paris, Bass Clarinet in Grenadilla wood, to low Eb.
The instrument is a commission sale for Clarinets Direct; the previous owner, has
upgraded to an Uebel low C Bass.
The Noblet 60 Bass is Leblanc's entry level professional model,
featuring a single register key, and range to low Eb. This is an early model,
and it has articulated trill keys, superior to later production design, which simplified the
keys to a longer patern: These tend to go out of regulation more readily.
The Nickel Silver plated key work shows some wear, the plating is about 80%.
The bell is in good condition, with only minor dents
and no flattening to the base.
There is an old, pinned, repaired crack to the wood on the upper joint,
see photo 4. This has been stable for many years, the last owner having had no issues
with this repair. The Bass has a bracket fitted to keep it assembled as a one piece Bass clarinet:
Again this simplifies the maintenance of the instrument, as it cannot be mis-assembled,
which might cause the correspondence to move out of alignment.
This instrument has a floor peg holder attached to the rear of the bell.
In addition the last owner has fitted a more comfortable thumb rest and
an additional sling hook, so that the Bass can be played with a double hook sling, if wished.
The instrument was last serviced by Dawkes in July 2013,
the relevant invoice is included with the Bass. The pads are all tan leather, in good condition,
some of these were replaced at this last service.
The matching serial nos. are 3417. The case is an upgrade to an Aqua Sulis in good condition;
there are some scuffs to the exterior, but it zips and protects the instrument well.
The m'piece is an excellent Selmer D is "as new" condition. This instrument responds easily and readily,
and would make an ideal first professional
Bass clarinet purchase.
