A very fine condition Buffet Master Model E13. The Nickel Silver key work is in excellent condition, with no discernable wear. We have just re-padded in Pisoni Premium Deluxe fish skin pads & the clarinet is sold with our full year's Clarinets Direct warranty. The matching serial nos. are D41982 which dates to the late 1970's, and makes this one of the last Master Models ever produced. Back then the E13 range was tested at the Buffet factory, by Pierre Lefebvre, first clarinet of the Guarde Republicaine Band, and later Clarinette Solo de L'Opera-Comique, with the finest instruments then undergoing further hand tuning and undercutting to improve the response. Therefore the customer had an instrument which was almost as good as an R13 but at less cost. The Grenadilla wood is in very good condition with only slight surface marks, commensurate with careful use, apart from a slight nick to the lower tenon of the upper joint: This is on the outside edge of the tenon, and has no effect on the response, see photo 4. These days E13's are made from inferior quality wood which is stained to hide imperfections, whereas the wood for this clarinet is unstained. The case is the original, with werato the interior lining, and scuffs to the exterior, it still latches well. The m'piece is a custom Playfair by Edward Pillinger in mint condition, the tuning is exemplary.
