GEORGE LEBLANC, PARIS, PROFESSIONAL BASS CLARINET, £2395

This is an excellent condition G Leblanc, Paris, Bass Clarinet in Grenadilla wood, to low Eb, which is a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. This Bass is an ultra rare top-of-the-line professional model, which was later designated the 425S. The mechanism features a double register key for improved intonation in the middle register and a RH fork Ab/Eb key that provides an alternative fingering which is more resonant. At the time this instrument was made it was the equal of, or superior to, the current Selmer model. It was for this reason that its original owner selected it above all other manufacturers' models.
The German Silver plated key work shows no wear, the instrument was formerly owned by a professional who has taken excellent care of this Bass. The crook and bell are in good condition, there is only one tiny pin head ding to the bell. There are no cracks or damage to the wood, which is in good order throughout, apart from some slight surface marks consistent with the age of the instrument. This Bass will have a complete Pisoni Premium Deluxe Tan Leather re-pad in our workshop, & is sold with our full 1 year warranty. In addition all the key work will be buffed to a nice shine. There is a floor peg attachment for a spike to the bottom of the lower joint. The matching serial nos. are 529: Leblanc serial number lists are unreliable, but the original and sole owner of this Bass bought the instrument new in the early 1960's. The case is the original in good condition. The m'piece is a Lafleur London & Paris in ebonite, stamped Medium, in excellent condition.
