LEBLANC PROFESSIONAL BASS CLARINET, £1495.00 |
|||||||
This is a fair condition Leblanc, Paris, model 400 Bass Clarinet in Grenadilla wood, to low Eb. It was last owned by an amateur player who had a collection of Leblanc clarinets, and specialised in playing Jazz. The instrument has seen much use and the condition of the Grenadilla wood reflects this: In addition to a small crack to the lower joint, which is in the tenon, running down to the first tone hole, there are several old screw holes, mainly where brackets to hold the instrument together as a one piece Bass, and brackets to hold the original floor peg, were formerly fitted. The screw holes have been filled, and are surface imperfections only; they do not go through to the bore. The crack has also been filled and glued, it is only in the tenon, it does not enter or form the bore, see photo 8. The crook is in very good condition, but the bell has a few minor dings and scratches, only cosmetic issues. There is no plating loss to the key work; which is German Silver in fine condition. The Bass has tan leather Pisoni Premium Deluxe pads throughout, which are in excellent condition. In addition to a floor peg to the bell, there is also a sling provided. The matching serial nos. are 3270. The case is a compact Yamaha, in very good condition. The m'piece is a used Vandoren B45. In summation this is a very fine playing Bass clarinet, which would suit a player not overly concerned about cosmetic issues. |
