This pair of extremely rare Boosey & Hawkes, London & Paris, clarinets are in very good condition. Their former owner is a London based professional, and these instruments have been extremely carefully owned, and have had after market tuning work done on them by Jon Steward. The London & Paris 1010 model, as the name suggests, was made for B&H in France. These instruments are in amazing original condition, with matching serial nos. throughout on both Bb and A, they are probably the finest pair of pre-war London and Paris Boosey & Hawkes 1010s in existence. Even the original case comes with the key.
The Bb has matching serial nos. 1242 and has original key work in pristine condition. The instrument is in ebonite throughout, which is in overall excellent condition. All pads are Pisoni Tan Leather in good condition.
The A, has matching serial nos. 1953. The key work, which is Silver plated, is in good shape for its age with only slight wear to the "pinky keys". There is one minor old repaired crack to the lower joint upper tenon, see photo 10. This has been glued in the past and is at the top of the receiving tenon of the lower joint, i.e. it does not form the bore or affect the instruments' response in any way. Like the Bb is has Pisoni Tan Leather pads in good condition. The main pieces are wood apart from the original barrel & bell, which are in ebonite. The m'piece is stamped S/N 1203, in excellent condition, and tunes both clarinets well. The case is the original in good condition, with dust cover and key.
