JACQUES FILS ALBERT 7 RING Bb CLARINET, £895

A superb 7 ring Boehm system clarinet made by the last maker of the legendary Albert family: Jacques Fils. This instrument features both articulated C#/G# and fork Eb/Bb. The German Silver keywork is good, very solid, and with an excellent shine. The wood is in good condition for its age, with no major cracks or repairs, to the main body pieces, however the bell has a stress crack to the tenon, and also a chip to the wood above the bell ring, see photos 3 & 4: Neither of these affect the bore. This instrument is a commission sale for Clarinets Direct, and the current owner has had it recently fully repadded by Eddie Ashton in superpads. From the look and style of key work this clarinet was probably made in the 1930's and Albert retired in 1939. Albert clarinets are well known for their unique warmth and depth of tone. To some extent they exhibit a rare synthesis of the best of German and French schools of clarinet making. The makers stamp is clearly visible on all sections, excepting the barrel which is by "Gras". The case is in good used condition. The m'piece is a brand new La Voz.
