BOOSEY & HAWKES IMPERIAL Eb CLARINET, £1745

This is an excellent condition Boosey and Hawkes Imperial, Eb Clarinet in Grenadilla wood, which is a commission sale for Clarinets Direct This Eb has a fine Provenance, having had only two professional owners: Initially Ruth McDowell, of the CBSO [subsequently BBCSO] bought it new in 1977, and latterly it has been owned by a younger London professional player. The Silver plated key work shows no wear, the plating is pristine throughout. There are no cracks or repairs to the wood, which is in good order throughout. There is some blue tack in the top two tone holes of the upper joint for tuning purposes, which we shall remove in the Clarinets Direct workshop. The instrument is currently undergoing an overhaul, in fish skin pads, with all touch corks and regulation seen to as necessary. It will be sold with our full 1 year warranty. The barrel is original and measures, 44.5mm. The original case is well used, but still latches securely. The original m'piece is a B&H, ebonite example, in good condition. This Eb is a top professional model, it plays with an excellent warm tone, and very fine intonation. The serial nos. are 472818, sadly this model is no longer made.
