An extremely fine, and rare, Gallia-Ton, Paris covered hole clarinet. It may be that "Gallia-Ton" is just a trade name, and this instrument was made for a particular dealer or music shop, and then stencilled. The instrument is made from Grenadilla wood, and, from the style of the key work, would seem to have been made in the 1930's.
There is no damage to the main pieces, which are crack and repair free, however the original barrel has cracked. A Boosey & Hawkes "short" Emperor barrel is provided as a replacement, and this, in fact tunes the instrument very well. The original German Silver key work is in lovely condition, without any wear. The instrument has just had a complete re-pad in Pisoni deluxe fish skin pads and is sold with our full 1 year warranty. The case is in very good condition,as is the supplied mouthpiece. The instrument tunes well at A=440 Hz, and is excellent value for a "plateau" wooden clarinet. It would suit a sax/flute doubler or a player suffering from arthritis.
