This Buffet Festival Bb clarinet is in excellent condition, with only slight wear to the stamps and tenon corks to distinguish it from new. The instrument was bought new in 2007 by a student for his University performance degree, it has been extremely well cared for. He now works as an administrator for the London Symphony Orchestra. The Festival is based firmly on the R13 Prestige, with the register key tube slightly higher, and adjustments to the upper and lower bore flares to compensate. This type of alteration had in fact been suggested to Buffet in the late 1960's by Moennig, Morgan, and Gigliotti: The result is improved intonation and evenness to the second register, which has meant the Festival is a firm favourite amongst professional players.
The Bb has matching serial nos. 567109. The wood, which is unstained, hand selected Grenadilla, is in perfect condition, with no cracks or repairs. The Silver plate shows no wear, it is pristine. The clarinet has finest Pisoni white leather pads throughout in excellent condition. There are 2 supplied barrels of 65.0mm, and 66.0mm. All pieces are genuine Buffet stamped Festival. The m'piece is a Weinberg D3, in excellent used condition. The case is the original Buffet in black leather, in very good condition.
