This Buffet Festival A clarinet is in near mint condition, with only slight wear to the stamps and tenon corks to distinguish it from new. The instrument has been professionally owned and played, it has been extremely well cared for. The Festival is based firmly on the R13 Prestige, with the register key tube slightly higher, and adjustments to the upper and lower bore flares to compensate. This type of alteration had in fact been suggested to Buffet in the late 1960's by Moennig, Morgan, and Gigliotti: The result is improved intonation and evenness to the second register, which has meant the Festival is a firm favourite amongst professional players.
The A has matching serial nos. 347796. The wood, which is unstained, hand selected Grenadilla, is in perfect condition, with no cracks or repairs. The Silver plate shows no wear, it is pristine. The clarinet has finest Pisoni fish skin pads throughout in excellent condition. There are two supplied barrels measuring 67.0mm & 66.0mm. All pieces are genuine Buffet stamped Festival. The case is the original Buffet in black leather, in excellent condition. NB. Though a B45 mouthpiece is pictured, in fact that has been replaced with a second barrel.
