LEBLANC, PARIS, ESPRIT, A CLARINET, £895

A very good condition Leblanc Esprit A clarinet, which has seen very little use, and has come to us via a young budding professional. It was used throughout his time at Cheetham's School of Music, and latterly the Royal Academy of Music. He was pairing it with an R13 Bb clarinet, but has decided to sell this A clarinet to part fund the purchase of a Baritone Sax.
This clarinet was Leblanc's entry level professional wooden model, which features a polycylindrical bore design of 14.65mm. It was descibed by Leblanc as having a darker, and yet more flexible, sound than the slightly cheaper Sonata. It also features a separate post mounting for Ab/Eb. This model plays so well that it easily competes with a modern Buffet R13. This example has no damage or repairs to the wood, which is in excellent condition. The Silver plate key work is pristine, with no wear. All pieces are original and having matching stamps. The instrument has fish skin pads, with the exception of the register key and C#/G# key which are in cork, all are in good condition. The matching serial nos. are 72008. The m'piece is a used Vandoren in good condition. The supplied case is a Buffet, with some tears to the interior and scuffs to the exterior, it latches and protects the instrument well. This clarinet would pair well with No. 49 on our list.
