SELMER, PARIS, EEb CONTRA-ALTO CLARINET, TO LOW D, £7995

This is an excellent condition and extremely rare, Selmer Contra-Alto clarinet in Rosewood, which is a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. This instrument was ordered from Selmer, Paris, by Paul Harvey as a low D model, instead of the more common version with a range to low Eb. Thus the extension is by Selmer, with matching serial nos. on both joints, A2937, which dates to 1978. Paul Harvey used this instrument for much Film and TV session work, including several scores for BBCTV's "Dr Who". Subsequently the instrumnet was sold to another London professional player, who has kept this instrument in excellent condition. The Selmer Contra-Alto is generally considered the finest in the world, due to its excellent response and fine ergonomics. It plays almost as easily as a Bass clarinet.
This instrument is in pristine condition, without cracks or damage to the wood. The pads are all tan leather and in very fine condition. The Nickel Silver plating is also excellent throughout, with no wear. The supplied m'piece is a Selmer E, which is again in very good condition. A selection of Rico No. 2 reeds are also included. The original case shows some exterior scuffs, but the interior is excellent. The instrument can be supplied with a K& M Contra-Bass clarinet stand for an additional £60.00.
