An extremely fine, and rare, pair of UK stamp Evette & Schaeffer, E13 clarinets in Nickel Silver plate. These instruments were made in the mid 1970's and at this time Buffet UK were based at Pages Walk in South London. Clarinets with a "UK" stamp were specially selected for the British market and pitched at A=440 Hz. Also at this period, the E&S E13 was made alongside the R13 at the same factory in France. The instruments were made from unstained wood and were hand undercut and finished, unlike the modern E13. This E&S Bb is much superior, in every respect; quality of wood, intonation, and tone to contemporary mass produced E13 Buffet clarinets.
The Bb has matching serial numbers K40781. There is no damage to the wood, which is crack and repair free. The plating overall is in fine condition with only slight loss to the RH ring keys.  The instrument has had a re-pad in Pisoni Premium Deluxe leather pads and is sold with a full years' warranty. The A has S/N K36189, & has plating throughout in very good condition, as usual, it has had less use than the Bb. It has just been completely overhauled in fish skin pads and is sold with our full 1 year warranty. The case is an upgrade to a Buffet Prestige in black leather with combination locks in pristine condition. And the m'piece is an upgrade to a professional Vandoren B45 Lyre, again in excellent used condition. Current E13s are being treated by Buffet with a chemical compound, which is supposed to inhibit cracking. In fact this seems to be causing some joint problems for Buffet, with many new instrument owners reporting problems with sticking joints to dealers, due to this compound leaching out from the wood end grain. At the period this instruments was made, thankfully the Grenadilla wood was left to age naturally prior to manufacture. The pair can be split as follows: A in double case without m'piece for 845. Bb in single case with Vandoren m'piece for 795.
