A rare Dolnet, Lefevre, & Pigis C clarinet. Dolnet were active as makers in Mantes from 1880 until WW 2. This instrument is a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. The current professional owner has been playing this C in a London based Klezmer band. The German Silver plateau key work is in excellent condition, as are the pads which are fish skin in new condition. There is one old, pinned crack to the upper joint, which is shown in photo 6. It does not run through to the bore and has been stable with continuos professional use. The bell has a vent hole drilled through the tenon as well, to tune the low E/B twelfth better, this can effectively be close off, if desired, by rotating the bell, see photos 9 & 10. The instrument plays evenly and with a fine full tone across the registers, and at A=440Hz with standard French bore m'pieces. The case is a modern example, in good condition, as is the supplied Noblet m'piece.
