CONSOLE, by SELMER, PLATEAU B FLAT CLARINET, £645

A rare Selmer Console, France, Plateau B flat clarinet in ebonite. The Selmer Console was a student model manufactured for Selmer. This instrument is also stamped "France", unlike some of the cheaper Consoles, which were simply stamped "Foreign". The clarinet has just been completely overhauled by Clarinets Direct, and is sold with our full 1 year warranty. The instrument has been completely stripped down; all pads replaced with Pisoni Premium Deluxe tan leather pads, springs replaced as necessary, all tenon and touch corks replaced, the mechanism re-aligned and regulated. All pieces are matching and original, and have the "Console" stamp. There are no cracks or repairs to the ebonite body, which is in fine order. The case is the original, with "Selmer" plate. The m'piece is a brand new Pillinger custom model in ebonite on an F3 blank, with a 1.12mm tip opening. The intonation and response of the clarinet with this m'piece are excellent. A plateau instrument in ebonite is substantially lighter than a Grenadilla wood model, it was "specifically designed for the younger player, doubler or even the arthritic player who may have difficulty covering the standard open-tone-hole".
