CHAPELAIN C CLARINET, 995

A rare Chapelain C clarinet. Fernand Chapelain & Cie were active as makers in La Couture in the early years of the last century. In addition to the makers stamp, the instrument also has another stamp "P Colin Luthier Nimes". The instrument has just been re-padded in finest Pisoni white leather pads with the exception of the speaker key and the side Eb/Bb key, which, as they are prone to filling with water, are in cork. The clarinet is sold with our full 1 year warranty. The German Silver plateau key work is in excellent condition, as is the wood, which is crack and repair free. The bell has a vent hole, to tune the low E/B twelfth better, as is the case with quality German instruments. I imagine that this was a later modification, the work is nicely done, with a metal insert to the vent hole, see photo 9. The instrument plays evenly and with a fine tone across the registers, and at A=440Hz with standard French bore m'pieces. The case is a modern Daveau hardshell model, in good condition, as is the supplied Selmer C85 120 m'piece.
