YAMAHA CSG CUSTOM, HAMILTON KEYS, CLARINET, £1445

A superb condition Yamaha CSG CUSTOM clarinet, which was recently taken in trade in by Clarinets Direct. The former owner is a professional London based jazz sax and clarinet player, who selected this instrument new, as a back up, from many at T W Howarth 4 years ago. Yamaha made great claims for the CSG range; a new bore design is supposed to provide great tonal richness, as found in older instruments made from properly aged Grenadilla. Also new, for the most expensive models, is the gold plated Hamilton key work, as featured on this instrument. Certainly the design has found much favour with many fine players, including Michael Collins and Nicholas Cox. The latest CSG III differs from this model in that it offers revised key work, including a a LH Ab/Eb lever, and a voicing groove to the bell.
The instrument has no cracks or damage to the wood, which is finest unstained Grenadilla. This Bb, S/N 03026, has mainly fish skin pads with one tan leather pad on the first side key. All pads are sealing well now and in good condition. The Hamilton plated key work is pristine throughout. The m'piece is a used Selmer HS* in good condition, as is the modern light weight case.
