An exceptionally fine condition pair of Selmer Paris Artys Clarinets. These instruments have been professionally owned and played by one careful clarinettist, and are a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. In common with other Selmer designs dating from the 1990s, the Artys features a long reversed cone through the upper joint. This results in stable tuning, and the clarinet also features a dark, even tone, throughout the registers. The Artys is now no longer manufactured. Some cynics think this is because with its relatively reasonable price tag, for a Selmer Paris clarinet, it stole sales away from the more expensive models which continue in the Selmer line up.
The Bb clarinet, S/N N09621, is in excellent order throughout. The Silver plated key work is pristine. The wood shows no cracks or damage, apart from a tight surface hair line crack, which I am told is situated between the two top trill key holes. The current owner attempted to show me the crack, but explained that it does close up completely. It was not visible either to the naked eye, or camera lens. If the crack does exist, it certainly does not go through to the bore. The pads throughout are white leather, used, but in very good condition. The supplied barrel is 65mm in length.
The A has matching serial nos. P03491. It is in mint condition, having had virtually no use. All white leather pads are as new, as is the condition of the Silver plated key work. The supplied barrels measure 66 mm & 65mm The m'piece is a Selmer HS*. The case is an excellent condition Yamaha, supplied with keys.
