Clarinets Direct is fortunate to count many of the UK's finest players amongst our clientele.
One such is Tom Watmough, who is currently co-Principal clarinet with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
This superb Buffet R13 Vintage clarinet has been played in both the RPO and London Philharmonic Orchestra,
and is a commission sale for C. D.
The Bb Clarinet is in near mint condition, and was supplied new by Howarths of London less than 18 months ago.
The only reasons that the instrument is described as "near mint", are a couple of tiny patches of cloudiness to the plating,
see photos 8 & 10, and the fact that the Pisoni finest white leather pads,
as custom fitted by Howarths', are not brand new. All pads and key regulation are in excellent order.
The wood is in pristine condition throughout, no cracks or damage whatsoever.
The matching serial nos. are 606176.
The Buffet Vintage model is Buffet Crampon's current
attempt to recapture the sound and manufacturing excellence of the R13 of the 1950's.
Some differences exist however; the modern "Vintage" features an additional double polycylindrical bore barrel,
as well as a standard R13 bore barrel,
hence the two supplied with this instrument. The additional polycylinder is supposed to improve intonation
overall on this model. Also the modern instrument features an additional LH Ab/Eb lever in common with other
Prestige range clarinets. Like the original R13 this clarinet features hand selected unstained wood,
and careful hand finishing to optimise response and tuning through undercutting.
The case is a modern Buffet Tosca in excellent condition
supplied with both keys.
