BOOSEY & HAWKES IMPERIAL Eb CLARINET, PEARCE COLLECTION, 1795

This is a very good condition Boosey and Hawkes Imperial, Eb Clarinet in Grenadilla wood, which is a commission sale for Clarinets Direct This Eb has an outstanding Provenance, as it was this Eb that Michael Pearce used in the Philharmonia Orchestra, as co-Principal and Eb clarinettist, from 1978-1988. This instrument is featured on many of the Philharmonia recordings of this era, when the Orchestra was justly renowned for the superb quality of the Wind Section. As Michael Pearce stated: "This Eb has played all of the standard Eb Orchestral repertoire, and more!"
This instrument is in very fine condition the Silver plated key work shows no wear, it is in excellent condition throughout. There are no cracks or repairs to the wood, which is in pristine condition. The instrument has fish skin pads which are all sealing well. The serial nos. are 510268. The mouthpiece is a B&H original. It plays comfortably with Vandoren No. 3 or 3.5 reeds. The case is again original, in good condition, it comes with the keys. In summation this Eb plays with a mellow, broad sound, and with excellent intonation.
