MATCHED PAIR OF SELMER SERIES 9* CLARINETS, 1795

This matched pair of Selmer Series 9* clarinets are in very good condition. They have been professionally owned and played in The Netherlands and are a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. The 9* was marketed by Selmer as "pour la musique symphonique", the 9 was "pour le jazz et les varietes." In other words the slightly smaller bore 9*, with undercutting, was aimed at the classical market, the wide bore 9 at the Jazz market.
The Bb clarinet has matching serial nos., U8833 which dates to 1966. The Nickel Silver plating is good throughout, with slight wear mainly to the ring finger touchpieces. There are no cracks or repairs, the Grenadilla wood is in perfect condition. The instruments are padded in tan leather, and both have gone through our workshop, with pads replaced as necessary. Tenon corks and touch corks have also been replaced where worn. The A clarinet, with matching serial nos. U8668, is again in very good order. The instrument shows NO evidence of cracks or repairs; the wood throughout is very fine. All pieces are matching and stamped, including the barrels. The case is an original Selmer which is again in excellent condition. The supplied m'piece is a Vandoren B45.
