This matched pair of Selmer Series 9* clarinets are in superb condition.
The 9* was marketed by Selmer as "pour la musique symphonique",
the 9 was "pour le jazz et les varietes." In other words the slightly smaller bore 9*,
with undercutting, was aimed at the classical market, the wide bore 9 at the Jazz market.
The Bb clarinet has matching serial
nos., Z5499 which dates to 1976. This makes this 9* pair one of the last Selmer made.
The Nickel Silver plating is excellent throughout, with no discernable wear.
The pads are all brand new fish skin. There are no cracks or repairs,
the Grenadilla wood is in perfect condition.
The A clarinet, with matching serial nos. Z6587, is again in pristine order,
with all new fish skin pads.
The instrument shows NO evidence of
cracks or repairs; the wood throughout is very fine. There are in total 4 Selmer barrels.
The case is an original Selmer which is again in excellent condition.
The key is included.
The invoice for the last full service on the pair is included in the sale:
A complete and full overhaul was done on both instruments at a cost of £410.
