These Selmer Series 9* clarinets are in superb condition, and have come to
us as a commission sale from a professional player in The Netherlands.
The 9* was marketed by Selmer as "pour la musique symphonique",
the 9 was "pour le jazz et les varietes." In other words the slightly smaller bore 9*,
with undercutting, was aimed at the classical market, the wide bore 9 at the Jazz market.
The Bb clarinet has matching serial
nos., V2100 which dates to 1966.
The Silver plating is excellent throughout, with no discernable wear.
The pads are all brand new Pisoni finest white leather. There are no cracks or repairs,
only slight scuffs to the original barrels. However, the professional player who used them
in a Symphony Orchestra preferred a custom made Meinel barrel, which is included.
He also had the RH sliver key of the Bb, slightly shortened , see photo 7.
The A clarinet, matching serial nos. V2421, is again in pristine order,
with all new Pisoni white leather pads.
The instrument shows NO evidence of
cracks or repairs; the wood throughout is very fine. There are 3 Selmer barrels in addition
to the custom made Meinel.
The case is on original Selmer which is fully
functional, but does show scuffs to the exterior and interior stains. The key is included.
