SELMER SERIES 9* Bb CLARINET, £795

This Selmer Series 9* Bb clarinet is a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. This instrument has belonged to a professional UK owner who was formerly a RAF musician, now retired. The 9* was marketed by Selmer as "pour la musique symphonique", the 9 was "pour le jazz et les varietes." In other words the slightly smaller bore Series 9*, with undercutting, was aimed at the classical market, the wide bore Series 9 at the Jazz market. The clarinet has matching serial nos., X8877 which dates to 1973. The Nickel Silver plating is good throughout, with only slight wear to the rings. The pads are all used fish skin, apart from the register key pad which is in cork. All are in fine order, and will be good for many months to come. There are no cracks or repairs to the Grenadilla wood, which is excellent throughout. The supplied Selmer case is in very good condition, as is the m'piece, which is a used Vandoren 5RV.
