SELMER SERIES 9* Bb CLARINET, £795

This Selmer Series 9* enhanced Boehm Bb clarinet is a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. This instrument is in good condition, and has come to us from a Netherlands based professional player. The 9* was marketed by Selmer as "pour la musique symphonique", the 9 was "pour le jazz et les varietes." In other words the slightly smaller bore Series 9*, with undercutting, was aimed at the classical market, the wide bore Series 9 at the Jazz market. This instrument is an enhanced Boehm model with 7 rings, which usefully allows for a forked Eb/Bb in the left hand, articulated C sharp/G sharp, and left hand Ab/Eb. The clarinet has matching serial nos., Z0651 which dates to 1975 & and is one of the last 9*'s made. The Silver plating is good throughout, with only slight werar to the rings, mainly LH2. The pads are all fish skin, the instrument has had a thorough "check down" in our workshop with pads, and corks replaced as necessary. There are no cracks or repairs, though there are some surface scuffs to the wood, and other signs of normal use. The original case is much used but still fully functional. The m'piece is a used Selmer C*.
