SELMER, PARIS, 10G A CLARINET, £1195

An extremely fine Selmer 10G clarinet, which is a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. This clarinet has had only one adult owner who used it through University. The Selmer 10G was named for Anthony Gigliotti, onetime principal Clarinet of the Philadelphia Orchestra. Gigliotti had become frustrated with certain shortcomings in the R13 design in the late 1960's and went to Buffet Crampon with modifications, Buffet weren't impressed, but Selmer were. The result was the 10G: an improved, "Americanised" R13, with warmer sound and better intonation. Hans W Moennig and Ralph Morgan were also major contributors to the design.
This A, S/N E3350, dates to the late 1980's and has Silver plate in superb condition. This is the last production model, with adjustable thumb rest and a linkage to the F/C pad cup with adjusting screw, superior to the conventional "crows foot" design. There are no cracks or damage to the wood which is in excellent order throughout. The instrument has been for a complete overhaul in our workshop, in double bladder Premium Deluxe Pisoni pads, with touch and tenon corks replaced as necessary. It is sold with our full 1 year Clarinets Direct warranty. The two supplied, ebonite sleeved, barrels in the Moennig pattern, are of 63.5mm and 66mm. The case is the original Selmer in good condition. The m'piece is a used Selmer C85 120.
