An extremely fine Selmer 10G clarinet, in Silver plate. The Selmer 10G was named for Anthony Gigliotti, onetime principal Clarinet of the Philadelphia Orchestra. Gigliotti had become frustrated with certain shortcomings in the Buffet R13 design in the late 1960's and went to Buffet Crampon with modifications, Buffet weren't impressed, but Selmer were. The result was the 10G: an improved, "Americanised" R13, with warmer sound and better intonation. Hans W Moennig and Ralph Morgan were also major contributors to the design.
This Bb, S/N D3835, dates to the late 1980's and has Silver plate in superb condition. This is the late production model, with adjustable thumb rest and a linkage to the F/C pad cup with adjusting screw, superior to the conventional "crows foot" design. There are no cracks or damage to the wood which is in excellent order throughout. The instrument will have a complete in our workshop, with touch and tenon corks replaced as necessary, and is sold with our full 1 year warranty. The two supplied barrels are an original Selmer 10G of 66mm, and a shorter Selmer 10S, of 64.5mm, with an interior crack, which does not go through to the exterior bore. The case is a modern brand new example with shoulder carry strap. The m'piece is a used Vandoren B45.
